PS 1995
PS 1995 is the first edition of IKEA PS, a program started in the early 1990s in which IKEA invites designers every few years to create capsule collections. The name refers to a post script added to the standard range. The collection debuted in 1995 at the international furniture fair in Milan under the banner of democratic design: good design, function and quality at an affordable price. Stefan Ytterborn directed the project, and the designers included Thomas Sandell and Thomas Eriksson. The collection’s minimalist Scandinavian form was a deliberate answer to the excess of the 1980s. Eriksson’s clock from this edition entered the permanent collection of Sweden’s Nationalmuseum.
