TRUE BLUE
TRUE BLUE is an IKEA limited collection from 2012, running to 43 products designed and made in India. The Swedish design team worked directly on factory floors in the north and south of the country, where the glass, metal and textiles that make up the collection were produced.
The whole range was built around a single colour. IKEA connected it to indigo-dyed textiles, batik, Chinese ceramics, Portuguese and Dutch tiles, workwear and old chemistry bottles.
The collection never entered the annual catalogue, which is why it leaves no trace in the catalogue archive. All 43 names begin with the letter B, and several are Swedish adjectives rather than place names. BORTGLÖMD, meaning forgotten, covers two glass candle holders and a decanter.
