Maria Vinka

Maria Vinka is one of the most influential designers of contemporary IKEA, present in the company’s catalogues from the early 2000s on. Her name turns up on hundreds of pages, from textiles and upholstered furniture to IKEA’s children’s world, and is frequently among the credited authors on lighting spreads, including the AFTONSTUND lamp (2004–2006) held in this archive and the KROKIG range.

Vinka is also one of the early IKEA designers who openly drew on Sápmi (Sami) heritage, bringing into the brand vocabulary references that are softer and more narrative than the standard Scandinavian-functional template. Her credited work includes AFTONSTUND, AGAM, ALÄNG, AMAGER, KROKIG, and many others. Together with Nike Karlsson, Ola Wihlborg, and Henrik Preutz, she belongs to the cohort of designers who shaped IKEA’s post-2000 look.
