Annika Grottell

Annika Grottell is one of the most consistently credited designers on IKEA’s children’s catalogue pages of the 1990s and 2000s. The catalogue corpus lists her on more than two hundred items, including lamps from the MAMMUT range, the BLIMP children’s projection lamp (2006, held in this archive), ANEMON, BLÄCKFISK, BLAD, BENNO, BUSUNGE, MINNEN, and many others. Several children’s lighting spreads of the era carry her name as the sole credited designer, which, for IKEA, is a strong attribution signal.

For the BLIMP lamp, whose catalogue spread lists Grottell as the only author, the attribution is the strongest available across sources, she remains the most likely designer of the piece. Her body of work sits within the broader IKEA Children tradition: furniture and accessories designed for small users, short use-life, and the construction quality of a well-made toy.
